Peter Bahouth

(b. American)

Peter Bahouth works with stereoscopic 3-dimensional photography, a process that was developed in the 1830s. Bahouth designs his own viewers, often incorporating sculpture, sound, or signage as an invitation to look – observe the photograph outside the present context.  Like looking through a hole in a fence, it is a peek behind the surface that requires the active participation of the viewer. Bahouth has exhibited extensively in Atlanta. He exhibited at the Pulse Art Fair in New York in 2007; the Flow Art Fair in Miami, FL in 2006; and the Florida State University Contemporary Art Museum in Tampa, FL alongside Chuck Close, William Kentridge and others. His exhibition Post No Bills was the 2004 Public Art Project for Atlanta Celebrates Photography, consisting of 30 stereoscopic viewers placed in pedestrian areas of Midtown and Decatur. Bahouth is on the boards of Art Papers, the Hambidge Center and Atlanta Celebrates Photography. Formerly The Executive Director of Greenpeace USA and the Turner Foundation, Bahouth is currently the Executive Director of US Climate Action Network.
