Exhibition Dates: January 9-16, 2010 (one-week only!) Reception: Friday, January 8, 6:30-8:30pm Artist Talk: Wednesday, January 13, 6:30-8:30pm16, 2010 Presynaptic Potential. A multi-channel video installation, Presynaptic Potential looks at dyadic relationships; before/after, interior/exterior, urban/rural, memory/history, together/separate, woman/man. These binary pairings are conflated onto the tenuous narrative thread within the work. The two main large-scale video projections are positioned on the opposing interior walls of the gallery. This positioning references the conceptual pairings and adds a third dimension, placing the viewer in a liminal space (a privileged space that does not exist in the diegetic world on screen), the space between before and after, inside and out, memory and action. On the back wall of the gallery a series of small monitors provide auxiliary information, and form a connective thread, bridging the space between the two opposing walls. - Micah Stansell Micah Stansell. Micah Stansell is an artist and filmmaker living in College Park, Georgia. He received an MFA in Digital Filmmaking from Georgia State University. His work has screened in galleries and film festivals across the US and as far away as Beijing, China. Stansell has also worked as a cinematographer with artists on projects and installations that have been exhibited locally and internationally, including the Secession, Vienna. Presynaptic Potential was originally featured in Le Flash Atlanta 2009, a one-night event in Castlebury Hill, Georgia.
