Linda Anderson

b. September 1941 in Floyd County, Georgia

Linda Anderson is a self-taught painter born and raised in the North Georgia mountains whose work. The fourth of five children born to a tenant forming family, Anderson was forced to leave school in the eighth grade when her father passed away. At age thirteen she worked a variety of jobs including a maid, carpenter, and later a licensed nurse. Her work is characterized by the portrayal of the pastoral life that surrounded her early childhood, and the personal subject matter of her relatives and close friends. Anderson works primarily with oil on linen and she believes her painting come from God as an answer to prayer for help. Solo exhibitions have been held at Anderson College in South Carolina and the Swan Coach House Gallery in Atlanta, GA.
