Lamar Dodd b. 1909 in Fairburn, Georgia; d. 1996 |

Lamar Dodd studied art at the Georgia Institute of Technology, and with George Lucks, Boardman Robinson, and John Steurt Curry. He taught art at the University of Georgia starting in 1937. He received numerous awards including the Pepsi-Cola Award and the Edwin Palmer Memorial Prize. Dodd's works were exhibited at the New York World's Fair and the Golden Gate International Exhibition in 1939, and at Carnegie Institute in 1936. Dodd's works are found in collections of the Chicago Art Institute, University of Georgia, IBM and the Pepsi-Cola Company. The Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia is named for him. He was honored in a retrospective exhibition, "Lamar Dodd" at MOCA GA in 2008-2009.
