John Sumner b. 1941 in Louisville, Kentucky |
|
John Sumner is an Atlanta based photographer and has been capturing the American South and its people for over 25 years. A self-taught photographer, Sumner’s images offer timeless moments of life. A birch tree in Piedmont Park with the carved initials of lovers and children playing in Cabbagetown are example of Sumner’s ability to encapsulate both contemporary life and generational history at once. His photography has been included in the book, Illuminations: Expressions of the Personal Spiritual Experience and exhibited at the Rhonda Schaller Studio, NY. Sumner is in the MOCA GA permanent collection and other permanent collections that include his work are the High Museum of Art, and the University of Notre Dame. Sumner currently lives and works in Atlanta, GA. |
