Joe Peragine

b. 1961 in Jersey City, New Jersey

 
Joseph Peragine is a painter, sculptor, animator and filmmaker. He received his BFA fro the University of Georgia and his MFA from Georgia State University. Peragine has exhibited as a solo artist in Nashville, TN; Miami FL; Boston, MA; Boca Raton, FL; Atlanta, GA; Tempe, AZ; Savannah, GA; and in Beijing, China. He has been the recipient of numerous awards and grants from the Atlanta Urban Design Committee, Award of Excellence in Public Art, Marietta Centennial Park Sculpture Commission, Corporation for Olympic Development in Atlanta, and the Ford Foundation. His public art projects can be seen locally in the Municipal Court Building in downtown Atlanta and Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. MOCA GA has a selection of his animated films in the permanent collection. Peragine teaches at Georgia State University.
