Georgia Masterpieces: Selected Works from Georgia Museums celebrates the richness of the state's visual arts heritage and the state's fine museums that own many of these artists' works.

Whether fine or folk, whether a painting, sculpture, or mixed media, Georgia's legacy of great visual art serves as a source of pride to its residences and a record of the state's history and heritage.

Partnering with Georgia Council for the Arts, museums recommended pieces by Georgia artists from their permanent collections. A panel of jurors adjudicated the nomination and selected twenty-seven artists for inclusion in this retrospective publication. Featured artists include: John Abbott, Amalia Amaki, Benny Andrews, Maria Artemis, Radcliffe Bailey, James "Bo" Bartlett, Beverly Buchanan, Harry Callahan, Annette Cone-Skelton, Don Cooper, Herbert Creecy, Lamar Dodd, Martin Emanuel, Choate Jones, Ruth Laxson, John McWilliams, Lanier Meaders, Katherine Mitchell, Edward Moulthrop, Mattie Lou O'Kelley, Rocio Rodriguez, Edward Ross, Nelie Mae Rowe, and Steffen Thomas.
