DONATION GUIDELINES

FOR REVIEW BY MOCA GA's PERMANENT COLLECTION COMMITTEE

MOCA GA is not currently purchasing artwork for the permanent collection at this time. The Museum, does however, accept donations of artwork that meet criteria of the collection's mission. All artwork in the permanent collection is made by Georgia artists. A Georgia artist is one who was born in the state and/or had made an impact on the arts community here. The Director retains the right to determine whether an artist is a Georgia artist.

Interested donors should:

Email images of the offered artwork to Collections and Exhibitions Coordinator, Shana Barefoot at sbarefoot@mocaga.org along with any information about the artist, such as a resume or other supporting documentation. Please make sure to include a detailed description of the offered work, including the title, date, medium, dimensions, provenance, and other relevant information.

If the Collections Committee is interested, the donor is then responsible for:

Delivering the artwork to MOCA GA (at the donor's expense), for review.If artwork is accepted into the collection, the donor is then responsible for obtaining a recent appraisal for their tax purposes. MOCA GA cannot provide this appraisal.

Committee reviews occur semi-annually, and as such, works may be in the care of MOCA GA for up to six months before a decision is made. Correspondence will be generated after any decisions are made. All questions regarding the status of donations or any other information about the permanent collection should be directed to Shana Barefoot at sbarefoot@mocaga.org.
