Ben Roosevelt

b. 1975 in Kingsport, Tennessee

Ben Roosevelt is an Atlanta based artist whose work examines societal systems in relation to urban and suburban environments, mass media, and everyday experiences.  He creates installations with undercurrents of existential confusion or danger, as well as occasional moments of beauty and nostalgia. Roosevelt's practice includes the creation of objects and situations, the composition of articles and poetry, organizing and curating exhibitions, designing publications, and collaborating with others. He has participated in many exhibitions in both the United States and Ireland, such as Talent Show: the 2007 Atlanta Biennial, the solo show Legion at the Ard Bia Gallery in Galway, Ireland, and House Projects, a series of group exhibitions and residencies in Ireland. Roosevelt holds a MA from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN and a MFA from the National University of Ireland. His work has recently been added to the MOCA GA permanent collection.
