Annette Cone-Skelton

b. October 1942 in LaGrange, Georgia

Annette Cone-Skelton was the focus of a one-person exhibition at the Kiang Gallery in Atlanta in the fall of 2002.  She was included in the New Orleans Museum of Art Triennial in 2001, which was reviewed in Art in America, and her work was featured in the 2003 edition of New American Painting.  She was Creative Loafing’s “Critic’s Choice for Best Visual Artist in Atlanta,” 1998, and a finalist for the Whitney Biennial 2000.  Her work was featured in the exhibit 9 Women in Georgia at the National Women’s Museum in Washington, D.C., and in The Avant Garde:  Twelve in Atlanta exhibition at the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center.  Cone-Skelton had a major site-specific installation at Agnes Scott College’s Dalton Gallery in 1999 and has recently completed a commission to produce a mural for the new addition to the College’s Library.  Her work is in museum collections such as the High Museum of Art, the Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory University, the J.B. Speed Museum, the Birmingham Museum of Art, the Herbert F. Johnson Museum at Cornell University and MOCA GA.  Numerous corporations, institutions and private collectors have also acquired her work, including King and Spalding, Alston & Bird, Kilpatrick Stockton, Bell South and AT&T.  Cone-Skelton is President, CEO, Co-founder, and Director of The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA).
